Frotcom Web - Release notes - 2019

Updated

The following list shows the most recent changes implemented in Frotcom.

2019-08-29

HIGHLIGHT - New structure of the Alarms

We have significantly changed the way alarms are created, edited, triggered, and notified by email and SMS.
With this change, we aim to tackle the following objectives:
  • Make the operations in Administration > Alarms much faster, especially for large companies using many different alarms;
  • Make the alarm detection mechanism much lighter;
  • Improve the readability and design of alarm emails and alarm SMS messages.
  • New alarm types: Driving time limits, Expired driver license, (see below);
  • Many corrections and improvements to existing alarms (see below).

Given the importance of this development, we will have the first roll-out of features from Next to Production on the 22nd of August, and all these alarms-related features will be available in the Next version.

OTHER FEATURES

Driver license classes: This feature allows you to configure Driver license classes, store all the driver licenses numbers, and track the expiration date using an alarm:

driver_license_classes.PNG

To configure the driver license classes, you must go to Administration > Account - License classes, click on the ADD button and insert the necessary fields. After that, you can already set these classes to your drivers in Administration > Drivers - Details - Driving license.

Expired driver license alarm: You can now create an alarm to be notified when Driver licenses are about to get expired:

expired_driver_license_alarm.PNG

To configure a new Expired driver license alarm, choose the alarm from the list in Administration > Alarms - New, select to which classes this alarm will be applied to and then, in Definitions, choose how many days before the expiry date you would like to be informed.

Driving time limits alarm - Maximum daily driving time: This feature adds the option to set off the Driving time limits alarm based on a maximum daily driving time limit

driving_time_limits.PNG

This option is only available if the alarm is set to Use GPS tracking.

Select Vehicle filter when creating/editing an Alarm: When you create or edit an alarm, you can now, instead of choosing all the vehicles the alarm will be applied to, choose one or more Vehicle filters that contain the vehicles:

alarms_vehicle_filter.PNG

Overspeed alarm sensible to detailed tracking: The Overspeed alarm now uses the 2-second interim speeds in detailed tracking, not just the 1-minute-period speed.

i.e., if in a 1 minute period there are 30 measurements of speed (separated by 2 seconds), the alarms will only analyze the maximum speed of those 30 measurements.

Focus on the selected vehicle when choosing a past date: A new option in the Map settings to control the behavior of the Vehicles list when selecting a date in the past.

when_selecting_a_date_in_the_past.PNG

If the option Focus on selected vehicle is selected, only one vehicle will be displayed in the list, significantly reducing the loading time of the map - especially relevant for big fleets.

As of now, this is the default behavior, and all accounts with more than 20 vehicles were automatically set to use this configuration. However, you can change it back again to the old behavior at any time in the Map settings.

CORRECTIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS

  • Area entrance alarm (corrections);
  • Unidentified driver alarm (corrections);
  • Open door alarm (each door sensor triggers its own occurrence - until now only one occurrence would be triggered even if 2 or more sensors were in alarm condition);
  • Open seal alarm (improvement similar to Open door alarm);
  • Generic digital alarm ( improvement similar to Open door alarm);
  • Generic analog alarm (improvement similar to Open door alarm);
  • Temperature alarm (improvement similar to Open door alarm).

In this article you will find more information about the feature.

Integration with TIS-Web: TIS-Web is cloud-based system that contains tachograph analysis tools. With this integration, your customers can automatically upload to TIS-Web all tachograph files received through the Tachograph Remote Download service:

tisweb.PNG

To activate this option, please contact your Frotcom Certified Partner. Once activated, you can see all communication logs under Administration >Tachograph - TISWeb logs.

Frotcom on a Google SheetThis is a convenient new way for you to get data from Frotcom into a spreadsheet. With this, you will be able to analyze data, create reports, etc. In fact, you can even use Frotcom on a Google Sheet to enter information in Frotcom, for instance, to enter jobs, assign drivers or change driver status:

gsheets.PNG

A short introduction and the link to the documentation can be found in this article.

Driver App: The new Driver App is Frotcom’s app for professional drivers. It targets not only features useful from the company’s perspective but especially from the driver’s points of view.

home.png

In this article you will find information regarding how you can give your drivers access to the app, while in this section you can learn how to use all the features of the app.

Convert a waypoint to a destination: When you're calculating a Route, you can drag and drop the path to rearrange it as you wish. These waypoints, however, are not sent to the drivers (via Integrated Navigator or Workforce Management) as destinations.

If you wish to convert a waypoint to a destination to instruct your drivers to stop there, you can now use the option Convert to destination:

waypoint_to_destination.gif

You just need to right-click on the waypoint's white dot and choose Convert to destination, and the waypoint will be converted and added as a destination to the Route.

Driving behavior events report: The new Driving behavior events report shows you the details regarding all the events triggered for the drivers that are used to calculate their Driving Score of the Driving behavior:

driving_behavior_events.png

To generate the report, you need to choose a period (up to 30 days), the drivers and the events to be listed.

Automatic creation of drivers: This feature breaks the option Create driver when unidentified ID is received into two, so you can choose either just one or both identification technologies available (Tachograph card or RFID) to automatically create drivers when an unidentified id is received:

automatic_creation_of_drivers.PNG

You can find this option in Administration > Account - Drivers.

Select area to zoom in: As an alternative way to zoom in the Map, you can press and hold the Shift key while you draw a rectangle on an area of the map. This way the zoom area is pointed to that rectangle:

zoom.gif

End of support to Silverlight version: As of July 6th, the Silverlight version of Frotcom is terminated. Check here the main features present in the HTML5 version.

Send pre-filled forms on Tasks: When creating a task to send to the driver via Workforce Management, you have now the possibility to pre-fill the forms associated with the task with information useful to the driver:

jobs.PNG

To edit and insert values in the forms before sending them to the driver, you must select the Forms tab inside a Task of a Job. All the forms associated with the chosen task type will be listed, and you will be able to insert the values of the fields that are not automatically filled by the system.

Vehicle filters with Active routes: It's now possible to create Vehicle filters that will group and show only vehicles with Active routes associated with them:

active_routes.PNG

To create these filters, you need to to go to Administration > Filters, create a new filter or select an existent one and then, in Active routes, select the routes that will serve as the parameter for the filter.

Tachograph files import: This new option allows you to import to Frotcom tachograph files that were not downloaded using the Tachograph remote download functionality:

import_tachograph.gif

To import the files, you must select the option Import files in the hamburger menu of Administration > Tachograph. For the files to be imported, they must contain a valid VIN or Tachograph driver number that matches with a vehicle or a driver previously created in Frotcom.

Description of icons in the Driving behavior report: When you generate a Driving Behavior report, you can now choose the option Show legend on each page to see a small block with the description of each parameter used for the driver score:

driving_behavior.PNG

This option is only available if the report is generated with the full list of occurrences.

Direction of the vehicle in the infobox: Now, in the Vehicle infobox, a small icon next to the license place indicates the course of the movement of the vehicle:

infobox.PNG

IE no longer supported: As of now, Frotcom will not support accesses via Internet Explorer anymore. You can check the list of supported browsers here.

Performance improvements: Some developments to improve the performance and user experience were concluded, among them:

  • Reduced calls to API with the bottom panel closed;
  • Reduced browser memory;
  • APIv2 improvements (v2/vehicles and v2/routes/instances);
  • Removed deprecated code from SignalR;
  • Leaflet version update.

Enable and disable buzzer options: For all the vehicles with a buzzer configured in the Intranet, the new options to Enable and Disable buzzer will be available in their Vehicle infobox's options (or the context menu of the vehicle):

disable_buzzer.PNG

Note that, once the option for the buzzer is changed, it will remain in that mode until it is changed again by someone in the office.

Note also that, for the device to receive the corresponding command, the vehicle must be in an area with GSM coverage - otherwise the buzzer will remain in the same mode until the command is received.

You can also have an overview of the status of the vehicles with buzzer in Administration > Vehicles:

vehicle_list.PNG

This option is available for the following devices/minimum version:

Device Version
GV300CAN F0.3.4
C4EVO F0.13.1
C4MAX F0.13.1
C4MAXL F0.13.1
C4MAXV2 F0.13.1
C4MAXV4 F0.5.0

Continuous buzzer alarm: When you configure an Alarm, you can now set up a buzzer that will sound continuously when the alarm sets off.

With this option selected, the buzzer will only stop if a fleet manager manually disables the buzzer for the vehicle.

continuous_buzzer.PNG

This feature goes hand in hand with the "Enable and Disable buzzer" functionality, since this is the only way the continuous buzzer can be disabled.

Manual coupling of vehicles and assets with GPS: If your fleet has assets with GPS tracking that are not eligible for the Automatic coupling/uncoupling based on GPS position, you are now able to use these assets to manually couple them to vehicles.

coupling.PNG

For this, just make sure the assets you want to manually couple are not selected for the automatic couple in Administration > Account > Driving conditions, as shown above.

Select vehicles and places using the keyboard: To improve the user experience while using the Map view, you are now able to select vehicles and places from the list using only your keyboard:

select_keyboard.gif

As you start typing for a vehicle, Frotcom will start automatically filtering the list. Also, you can navigate the list using the Up and Down keys until you find the desired vehicle.

Finally, if you press Enter, you will select the vehicle, just like you would normally do while using the mouse.

Automatic creation of drivers: You can set up the automatic creation of drivers when an identification (Driver ID or Tachograph ID) is received by Frotcom, but it's not yet associated with any driver:

create_driver.PNG

In Administration > Account > Drivers, if you select the option Create driver when unidentified ID, every time Frotcom receives an unidentified ID, a user is created with the code received as the Driver name, in the following format:

[code] - created by [vehicle's license place] on [date and time]

Now, if you also select the option Use Tachograph card name if available, Frotcom will analyze if the source of the identification is a tachograph card ID and if this card has a Driver name associated to it. If this is true, the driver name in the card will be used as the Driver name on Frotcom preceded by a start (*).

New filters on Interact: The filters of messages on Interact have been updated with a new interface. Also, a new filter for the Sent messages (Sent (but not delivered), Delivered (but not read) and Read) was added to help you find specific messages sent to the drivers:

HIGHLIGHT - Vehicle status

Benefits for the user:

The Vehicle status is a new attribute you can apply to the vehicles of your fleet to help you identify and classify them according to specific criteria, e.g., Free, Busy, Available, Maintenance, etc.

You can configure as many statuses as necessary to control your fleet, and use these statuses as filters for Vehicle filters and to find the Nearest vehicles. Also, you can generate a new Report that lists the changes in the vehicles' statuses is available:

2019-01-24

Option to copy a list of authorized drivers (Whitelist) from one vehicle to others: The button Copy this list to other vehicles was added to the Drivers whitelist option of the Vehicles' Administration, making it possible to copy the settings of a vehicle's whitelist to others:

2_copy_whitelist.PNG

Also, the dependency of an Immobilizer for the vehicles to use Driver Whitelists was removed, meaning that it is now possible for the FCP to configure a buzzer alarm to be set off when an unauthorized driver is identified.

Contact your Frotcom Certified Partner for more information regarding the set up of this functionality.

Maximum inactivity time in minutes: When you edit an Inactivity alarm, you can now set the Maximum inactivity time using hours and minutes (hh:mm):

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

With this release, there is a major upgrade of Vue.js, the scripting framework used in Frotcom HTML5 interface.
As of now, Frotcom will use Vue.js 2.5, the latest stable version, which allows us to achieve several significant improvements in the user interface:

  • Lower memory consumption by the web browser;
  • Higher application stability;
  • Faster rendering of pages and execution of user actions.

These improvements are particularly noticeable on accounts with many vehicles. For example, on the Map, switching from vehicle to vehicle is much faster and the browser consumes a lot less memory, making it more stable. All pages with long tables, such as the Events table or tables in the Administration are also much more efficient.

Note that this update does not cause any change in functionality or appearance of Frotcom.

HIGHLIGHT - Driver status

Benefits for the user:

With the Driver status functionality, you can set up statuses to use as tags for your drivers. Using these tags, you can manage, sort, filter and identify drivers based on statuses relevant for your company, like Available, On Holidays, Sick Leave, etc.

driver_status.png

You can configure as many statuses as necessary for the daily activities of your company, and later use these statuses as filters to generate manual and automatic reports or to find the nearest vehicles, for instance.
