Navigating the Map in Frotcom is an essential skill to manage your fleet efficiently. This article brings together key tools and techniques to help you interact with the map effectively.
Zooming In and Out
You can easily zoom in and out of the map using the following methods:
- Mouse Wheel: Scroll up to zoom in and down to zoom out.
- Zoom Buttons: Use the + and – buttons located in the lower-right corner of the map.
- Double-click or Shift + Select: Double-click on any area to zoom in quickly, or press the Shift key while selecting an area with your mouse.
The level of zoom you can achieve depends on your map provider:
- HERE Maps: Maximum zoom level of 10 metres for all map layers (Map, Terrain, Aerial with and without labels).
- Google Maps: Maximum zoom level of 5 metres for Map and Terrain layers; 10 metres for Aerial layers.
Map Elements
By default, the map displays your entire fleet's location. Vehicles and Places (points of interest created by users) are represented by distinct markers.
-
Vehicle Markers: Each vehicle is displayed with a specific marker.
-
Place Markers: Points of interest (POIs), such as customer locations, are represented by markers that vary depending on the type of place.
-
Clusters: When multiple vehicles or places are in close proximity, Frotcom clusters them to avoid overlap. Clusters are represented by blue markers for vehicles and white markers for places.
Hovering over a cluster reveals how vehicles or places are distributed within it. You can zoom in or click on the cluster to view individual vehicles or places.
Frotcom offers options to control how vehicle and place clusters are displayed. You can adjust the clustering level based on your preference and the zoom level of the map. For detailed instructions on configuring clusters and other map settings, please visit the Map Settings.
For a complete understanding of the symbols and markers used, refer to the Map Preferences.
Clusters
When map markers are too close together to display individually, Frotcom automatically groups them into clusters.
Hover over a cluster to see how the markers are distributed, or zoom in to separate them into smaller clusters or individual markers.
- Customizing Clusters: You can control the level of clustering by adjusting your preferences in the map settings under the clustering tab.
For detailed instructions on configuring clusters and other cluster settings, please visit the Map Clustering.
Auto-Refresh
The map is automatically refreshed to keep vehicle positions updated. When new data is available, the message “Loading data…” will appear at the bottom of the map. The refresh frequency depends on the tracking settings configured for your fleet.
