The Map Preferences hamburger menu provides a comprehensive set of options for customizing the way the map behaves and displays information. Accessible from the top right corner of the map, this menu allows you to tailor the map to your specific needs, from choosing different map layers to configuring how vehicles and places are displayed.
Map Layers
Select from three different map views:
- Road Map: Standard map showing roads and highways.
- Aerial Map: Satellite imagery for a detailed overhead view.
- Terrain Map: Displays elevation and natural features.
Simply click on the Map Preferences menu and choose your preferred map layer to change how the map is visually presented.
Toggle Options
Toggle between various map display options:
- Show activities/Show vehicles: Switch between viewing activity events or vehicles on the map.
- Show traffic/Hide traffic: Display or hide live traffic information on the map (not available for all regions). The different traffic speed is color coded, and detailed in the Legend option of the Map Preferences menu.
Map Settings
The Map Preferences menu also includes a Map Settings option, which allows you to configure a variety of settings, including:
- General Settings
- Vehicle Settings
- Clustering Settings
- Place Settings
- Waypoint Settings

For a detailed overview of the Map Settings menu and its features, see the Map Settings article.
Map Legend
The legend helps you interpret the various markers and symbols displayed on the map, including vehicles, places, and traffic indicators. To access the legend, click Legend in the Map Preferences menu. A panel will appear with explanations for each type of marker, organized into sections for easy reference.
Map Provider Options: HERE Maps - Truck Mode
If your account has subscribed to the Advanced Routing with HERE Maps service, Frotcom can take into account truck-specific restrictions and display them on the map. This is particularly useful when calculating routes for large vehicles, such as trucks, where certain roads may not be accessible due to legal or physical limitations.
How to Enable Truck Mode
To enable Truck Mode, follow these steps:
- Open the Map Preferences menu in the top right corner of the map.
- Select Show truck mode.
Once enabled, the map will highlight road restrictions that are relevant to your truck’s profile, making it easier to avoid unsuitable roads.
Changing Map Providers
If you wish to switch from one map provider to another, such as from HERE Maps to Google Maps, reach out to your Frotcom Certified Partner. For more detailed information about the differences between Google Maps and HERE Maps, refer to the Map Provider article.
Print Map
Need a hard copy of the map? The Print Map option lets you print the map exactly as it's displayed on your screen. This feature is useful for distributing routes or keeping a physical record. Clicking this option from the Map Preferences menu opens your device's print interface, where you can adjust layout and paper size before printing.
