Map Clustering

Updated

When several vehicles or places are too closed together for Frotcom to be able to display them on the map without overlapping, they are represented by cluster markers.

If you place the mouse cursor on top of a cluster, you will see a shape indicating how the items within them are distributed.

You can drill down on each cluster by double clicking on it, or simply by zooming in. For instance, if you zoom in the area where a cluster indicates 10 items, you might see a new division in clusters (3 + 4 + 2) and an isolated item (in the same total of 10 items).

Viewing Vehicle and Place Clusters

Access Map View

Navigate to the map view in the Frotcom application. If you have clustering enabled, vehicles and places are represented as clusters on the map.

Hover Over Cluster Icons

Move the cursor over any cluster icon on the map. The icon will now be more visually representative of the type of items it contains - either vehicles or places. A detailed list of items within the cluster will appear in a popup.

Selecting Items from the List

Click on any item from the list to zoom in on its location. The map will adjust to show the selected vehicle or place, and its detail info box will open. The list will close automatically after selection.

Search Functionality

You can use the search bar in the vehicle list popup to find specific vehicles by license plate. This is especially useful if the vehicle list is long, helping you quickly locate a particular vehicle within the cluster.

Vehicle List Details

For vehicle clusters, the popup list will include the following information:

  1. Vehicle Status
    • Grey Dot: No GPS data received for at least 2 hours.
    • Red Dot: Vehicle is stopped, with no trip in progress.
    • Green Dot: Vehicle has a trip in progress and is traveling.
  2. Vehicle License Plate
  3. Icons Indicating Vehicle Details

Update Map Settings

Frotcom offers options to control how vehicle and place clusters are displayed. You can adjust the clustering level based on your preference and the zoom level of the map. For detailed instructions on configuring clusters and other map settings, please visit the Map Settings article.

Vehicle Markers: In the map settings, select the Vehicle tab and deselect the option to show simple vehicle markers. Ensure this option is set to "No" to display vehicle clusters rather than only simple markers.

Clustering Levels: In the same hamburger menu, select the Clustering tab. Adjust the sliders for vehicle and place clustering levels. There are 5 levels ranging from "Never" (no clustering) to "Always" (always cluster), with intermediate levels providing progressive clustering as you zoom.
