Extended trips with CANBus

Updated

This report shows the list of trips executed by vehicle/driver, with CANBus details.

The period must always be a multiple of quarters. For example, it can start at 9:15, but not at 9:10. This way, the report can use the 15 minutes slots for the trips that are not fully included in the period.

The report can be generated for vehicles, for drivers, driver status, or teams, for a period of up to one month.

Configuration

To generate the report, you must provide the following inputs:

Configuration Description
Period

The period the report will be generated for. Options:

  • This month
  • Last month
  • Last 30 days
  • This week
  • Last week
  • Last 7 days
  • Today (Default)
  • Yesterday
  • Other (Maximum 30 days)
Show trips of Allows filtering trips based on the organization (department and segment); the filter is based on the department and segment to which trips are associated;
Show mileage chart

If you select this option, a bar chart will be added to the report, to show the mileage per driver.

This option is not available for the Summarized version of this report.

Show report The report has two major formats: Detailed or Summarized. In the first case, the report shows a table per vehicle (or driver) and each row in the table represents a trip. In the Summarized version, the report shows one single table, and each row corresponds to a vehicle, summarizing all the activity in the reported period.
Show information by

Here you must choose the source of the information. It can be:

  • Vehicles
  • Drivers
  • Driver statuses
  • Teams

Once you select one source, you must select which components will be used to filter the report. For instance, if I want my report to be generated for some vehicles of my fleet, I first select Vehicles and then choose their License plates in the next selector:

This selection slightly changes the output of the report.

Trips limit

Trips intercepted by report limits allows you to choose which trips are shown in the report, by selecting one of the following three options:

  • Split
    • This is the default option
    • Only allows date-time selections of quarters of hour (15 minutes);
    • The report includes the slices of trips that are inside the period, even if they did not begin or end inside the period.
  • Do not include
    • Allows the selection of minutes in the period;
    • Only trips that are completely inside the period are included in the report.
  • Include complete trip
    • Allows the selection of minutes in the period;
    • Includes complete trips, as long as at least a part of them is included in the period.

Output

This report can have two outputs: Detailed and Summarized.

Detailed

Each vehicle is reported in a separate table with all the trips executed in the period. It includes the trips that might have started before the period or ended after the period. A header indicates the license plate of the vehicle on the left and the driver's name on the right. The driver is presented only when, during the reported period, only one driver used the vehicle.

Column Description
Departure Time Date and time when the trip started. If the trip started before the period, this field shows the beginning of the reported period.
Departure place Name of the place where the trip started, when the trip started inside a place defined in the account. Empty otherwise. This field is also empty when the trip started before the beginning of the period.
Departure Address The address where the trip started or empty if the trip started before the period.
Start Odometer The vehicle odometer when the trip started. If the trip started before the beginning of the period, the column shows the odometer at the start of the report (read from the corresponding 15 minutes slot). This odometer comes CANBus, independently of the vehicle configuration
Arrival Time
Date and time when the trip ended. If the trip ended after the period, this field shows the end of the reported period. The field is empty if the trip did not finish at the time of report generation.
Arrival place Name of the place where the trip end, when the trip end inside a place defined in the account. Empty otherwise. This field is also empty when the trip ended after the end of the period or if it did not finish yet.
Arrival Address The address where the trip ended or empty if the trip ended after the period or did not finish at the time of report generation.
Arrival Odometer The vehicle odometer when the trip ended. If the trip ended after the end of the period, the column shows the odometer at the end of the report (read from the corresponding 15 minutes slot). The field is empty if the trip is not finished yet. This odometer comes from CANBus, independent of the vehicle configuration
Driver The driver using the vehicle during the trip. For the record, the driver of a trip is always the one that finished the trip. In case there was a driver and a co-driver, both names are presented with a pipe as a separator.
Duration Driving The time during which the vehicle was moving. Calculated as Duration Total - Duration Idle.
Duration Idle The time during which the vehicle was not moving. When the trip is not fully enclosed in the reported period, the Idle time is obtained from the 15-minute slots that lie inside the reported period.
Duration Total Total trip duration = Arrival time - Departure time. If the trip started before the reported period, Departure time is replaced by the beginning of the reported period. In the same way, if the trip ended after the reporedt period, Arrival time is replaced by the end of the reported period. If the reporedt period includes the present time and the trip has not finished yet, the Arrival time is replaced by the current time. Finally, if the trip did end yet, but the reported period does not include the present time, this means that the device is late sending the data, and the Duration Total field should be left empty, as well as the Duration Driving field.
Stop Amount of time the vehicle remained stopped, calculated as the time between Arrival Time of the trip and Departure Time of next trip. If the trip ended after the period or did not end yet, leave this field empty.
Energy consumption (liters or gallons, KWH, or Kg) Fuel or Energy or Natural gas consumed during the trip (uses 15 minutes slot values if trip is not fully enclosed in report period).
CO2 emission (Kg)

CO2 emissions on the trip based on the energy and CO2 emissions defined in the Vehicle Details > Management

In Electric and Natural Gas vehicles it's assumed that there are no CO2 emissions

Average Energy consumption w/ CANBus mileage Calculate from CANBus energy consumption and CANBus mileage. Energy Consumption Average = Energy consumption total / CANBus mileage * 100.
Average Energy consumption w/ GPS mileage Calculate from CANBus Energy consumption and GPS mileage. Energy Consumption Average = Energy consumption total / GPS mileage * 100.
Average Energy consumption per hour Calculate from CANBus Energy consumption and trip duration. Energy Consumption Average = Energy consumption total / trip duration in hours. This field is currently grouped with Average energy consumption w/ CANbus mileage which does not make sense.
CANBus mileage CANBus mileage during the trip. Values from corresponding 15-minute slots are used if the trip is not fully enclosed in the reported period. The field should be empty if the trip did not finish yet.
GPS mileage This field corresponds to the GPS mileage. Values from the corresponding 15-minute slots should be used if the trip is not fully enclosed in the reported period. The field should be empty if the trip did not finish yet.
Cost Shows the cost of the trip. It is either calculated per distance or per hour.
Mean speed For trips fully enclosed in the reported period, Mean Speed = Speed Sum / Sample count. If the trip is not fully enclosed within the reported period, it takes into consideration all 15 minutes slots of the trip that lie inside the reported period.
Departments 1-2 The codes of the departments associated with the trip (if available)

Summarized

Each vehicle is reported in row, considering all the trips executed in the period. It includes the trips that might have started before the period or ended after the period.

The values presented in this report match exactly the values presented in the totals row of the detailed version of the report.

Column Description
Vehicle The license plate of the vehicle reported.
Driver The last driver that drove the vehicle in the period.
Duration Idle Sum of idle time of all trips in the period. If a trip is not finished yet, and the period includes the current time, consider the idle time accumulated so far.
Duration Total Sum of the duration of all trips in the period. If a trip is not finished yet, and the period includes the current time, consider the duration of that up trip until the current moment.
Energy consumption Total Fuel or Energy or Natural gas consumption of the trip (uses 15 minutes slot values if trip is not fully enclosed in report period).
Energy consumption average (CANBus) Fuel or Energy or Natural gas consumption average (CANBus) = Energy Consumption / Mileage CANBus * 100
Energy consumption average (GPS) Fuel or Energy or Natural gas consumption average (GPS) = Energy Consumption / Mileage GPS * 100
CO2 emission (Kg)

CO2 emissions on the trip based on the energy and CO2 emissions defined in the Vehicle Details > Management

In Electric and Natural Gas vehicles it's assumed that there are no CO2 emissions

Cost Shows the sum of the costs of the trips or parts of trips included in the reported period.
Mean speed Mean Speed = SUM(SpeedSum) / SUM(SampleCount), considering all trips or slots that are within the reported period.
Departments 1-2 The codes of the departments associated with the trip (if available)

The report summarized and detailed will grouped vehicles by their vehicle energy, and use the correct units and totals.
