This article will show you how to create a route template using a previous vehicle path as source model.
Sometimes, a vehicle can perform a trip that can be considered as a basis for a template route. To achieve that, you just need to use a previously executed vehicle path and create a route that completely overlaps it.
To create a Route template based from a vehicle path, you should follow the steps bellow:
1) Find a vehicle with suitable path that you want to work with
2) Set the Directions Start and End points
Having the Directions Panel open and following the start and end points of vehicle's path:
a) Right click on the beginning of the vehicle path and choose "Drive from Here":
b) Right Click on the end of the vehicle path and choose "Drive to Here":
c) At the end you should have the starting and ending point on Directions Panel:
3) Calculate the route directions
Once the directions from previous points are calculated, Frotcom will show you a set of possible routes where the best route path result (displayed as blue) should be used for this purpose;
4) Drag and drop route points
Using the Best Route, drag and drop all necessary route points to match the vehicle's path extension;
IMPORTANT NOTE: While dragging the routes point, you should confirm by zooming in, if the white dragging mark is exactly placed on the road it should be (where sometimes the dragging point may be dropped out of desired road, leading to wrong route calculations) and if using it on highways, placing it on the wrong way, may lead to a route with several exits and re-entrances on the highway (sometimes the point may be dropped on the opposite direction lane).
5) Save the Route as a Template Route
Once the generated route fully overlaps the previous vehicle's path, you just need to add it to Frotcom as Template;
Having this path converted as a route template, you can assign it to other vehicles from same account, so that they can execute the same path performed by the original vehicle.
This approach is very reliable, since that using the Best Path to match the vehicle's path will discard any route diversion, refuel, breaks or any other unexpected event performed by the original vehicle.
Additionally, dragging the generated "Best Path" points over the original path and zooming them, you will be able to correct any undesired or wrong paths you may find.
