This article comprises the Tachograph information regarding the Vehicle's Tachograph Data.
The Tachographs panel shows you, for each vehicle equipped with a tracking device configured to execute the Remote Download feature and with a valid Vehicle identification number (VIN) in Administration > Vehicles > General, the following information:
Column | Description |
Licence plate | This is the license plate of the vehicle. By default, this is the main identifier of a vehicle in Frotcom. |
Priority | Indicates with an icon if this vehicle was marked with a higher download priority. |
Status | Vehicle's status |
Vehicle ID number |
Vehicle identification number as entered by you in Administration > Vehicles > General. NOTE: Vehicles without a valid identification number will not be listed; Frotcom will not be able to proceed with the corresponding file downloads. |
Periodicity |
This is the period according to which Frotcom will attempt to extract the tachograph data file from the corresponding tachograph. The default period is 80 days. NOTE: Please take into consideration that tachograph data must be collected in a period no longer than 3 months (90 days) after it has been generated. To account for any possible communication problems with the vehicle, Frotcom's periodicity for the tachograph data has been set to 80 days. |
Last file download | Date and time of the last successfully downloaded tachograph data file. |
Next download |
Date on which the next download is planned, according to the periodicity applicable. Between parentheses, the number of days from today until the next download is indicated. NOTE: this field will be shown in red font on a white background if this operation is already delayed, i.e. if the number of days from today to the next download is negative. |
Last error occurrence | If an error occurred when trying to extract a tachograph data file.¹ |
In order to define the periodicity of the tachograph's vehicle data download, perform the next steps:
- Tick the box of the line of the desired vehicle;
- Click on the Set Periodicity button on the top right part of the panel:
After that, the next panel will be displayed to you:
On the Periodicity drop down menu you will be able to define the automatic download periodicity from the following options:
Periodicity | Description |
Every 80 days |
Frotcom will download the tachograph data files from the selected vehicles, every 80 days. NOTE: By European law, you must ensure that you will have such files in your computers, available for inspection by the authorities, up to 90 days after the corresponding recordings. |
Every 30 days |
Frotcom will download the tachograph data files from the selected vehicles, every 30 days. NOTE: By European law, you must ensure that you will have such files in your computers, available for inspection by the authorities, up to 90 days after the corresponding recordings. |
Set a specific day |
If you select this option, you must as well provide a Day of the month for the tachograph download. Frotcom will download the tachograph data files from the selected vehicles monthly on the selected day. |
Never |
In this case you instruct Frotcom not to proceed with the automatic downloading of the tachograph data files. NOTE: By European law, you must ensure that you will have such files in your computers, available for inspection by the authorities, up to 90 days after the corresponding recordings. |
After selection of the desired Periodicity click on the Apply button so that Frotcom saves your preferences. In case you do not define a periodicity value, Frotcom will consider 80 days by default.
In order to Reset Download Date, do the next steps:
- Tick the box of the line of the desired vehicle;
- Click on the Reset Download Date button on the top right part of the panel:
After that, the following panel will be available:
On the New Download Date dropping menu you will be able to define when you want to reset the download date for the selected vehicles:
Date | Description |
Now | Execute the download now |
Calendar date | Schedule the new download date for a specific calendar date |
After selection of the desired New Download Date click on the Apply button so that Frotcom saves your preferences.
You may as well add a higher download priority to any vehicle.
To do so, click select any vehicles from the list using the checkboxes next to the License Plate, and then click on Set priority.
An icon will be placed next to the License Plate, and the following message will be displayed:
To remove a priority, select the Driver and click on Set priority again.
You must confirm the action in the popup:
Files high higher download priority will be downloaded before the other files. Up to 25 attempts will be executed, and if they are not successful, the priority will be removed.

Note1: If Frotcom tries to download a tachograph file and cannot, retries will be automatically produced, as follows: 10 retries separated by one hour; then 30 more retries separated by one day.
If Frotcom is still unable to download the files, it will give up, for that specific vehicle. An alert will be issued and sent by email to the addresses specified in the Administration > Tachographs > Options folder so you can take action.
Simultaneously and for security reasons, Frotcom will automatically deactivate the automatic download, described in this section, by setting it as “Never”. After inspecting the tachograph circuit for possible failures, the person in your company responsible for the management of the tachographs must reactivate the corresponding tachograph download period back to Every 80 days.
Note2: If Frotcom detects that this is the first time this option is activated for this vehicle, once you click Save, the following dialog will show: “Frotcom has not downloaded tachograph files from this vehicle before. Do you want to download now? [Yes, download now | No, download only 80 days from now].”
